This is the story of Jacob, a 16-year-old boy who finds out that the photo album his grandpa gave to him is more than a weird collection of the most peculiar pictures, but it seems to be a coded message that will make him travel to an island in Wales. There he will find an orphanage, in which Miss Peregrine takes care of the most unique children Jacob has ever seen…

As said before, Ransom Rigg’s initial idea was to make a picture book with some vernacular photographs he had collected. Instead, his publisher suggested he wrote a book in which those pictures would be part of the story. And there you have it, that’s how the Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children series was born, and then it became a bestseller. Not bad, don’t you think?

There’s a movie adaptation of the first volume of the series, however, it was not as profitable as expected so the movie series was canceled. This happens quite often, in fact, this is the reason why there’s no I Am Number Four 2 movie as well.
